just picked up a set of pro tapers as my stock bars are as twisted as my arm is broken...whats the cheapest way to get them to fit on the stock clamps? all the "universal clamps" that i've seen look like they bolt onto the triple clamp, and the stock mounts dont come off the triple clamp. this is a temporary fix until i can get a new upper clamp, just trying to get the bike running again as cheap as possible for when the cast comes off. I've got an 04 YZ250F

Get the Universal adapters. They bolt to your existing bottom handlebar mounts, whether they're removable or cast in place. Makes no difference. And yes, these adapters work. I've used them on a half-dozen bikes with no problems, no slippage.

Your only other alternative is aftermarket top triple clamps. Much more expensive.
