Check gear box oil level

In my CR 125 I have put around 750 ml of oil, then I have checked the oil level using the bolt drain oil on cluth side. I do that thing with the bike on the stand.
Is it the correct way ? or should I put it in the grund ?

it dosnt matter how u do it as long as the bike is level. And make sure u kick it a couple times (without starting it) after changing the oil and then check it again cause it gets it into all the places it couldnt get to when the clutch was in the previous possision
