Clutch Problems

Hello everyone this is my first time posting..I just picked up a 89 cr250 for a good deal but the problem I have now is the clutch doesnt seem to work...the lever feel tight doesnt feel like its kinked up anywhere the bike wasnt riden in a while but i got it to jump and everything feels good. so the qusetion is where do i start to look for the problem...also is my front fork adjustble to make stiffer due to the fact im 240lbs thanks alot

Let the bike warm up well and ride it around a bit to warm up the fluids etc. If the bike hasn't been ridden for a while the clutch plates may be sticking.
If that works, then change the trans. fluid.
If this doesn't work look for grooves worn in the clutch basket fingers or a crimped or worm clutch cable. Also, make sure the cable is well lubed with WD40.
