Anyone else think the cost to replace a clutch is a little high?

$170 - Clutch basket
$50 - Clutch disks
$50 - pressure plate
$30 - center clutch hub

$300 - total cost

I can replace the clutch in my car for cheaper then I can replace the clutch in my girlfriends bike.

Well... you dont NEED a clutch basket..

All you need (if its just slipping) is Clutch disks, and sometimes the pressure plates and springs...

You dont need the clutch basket if it isn't in bad shape.

(i spend $30 for clutch plates, and springs. My friend pays $50.00 for clutch plates, and springs, and it works great afterwords.)

Considering a Hinson basket is over $200 I think that's not too bad.

When I changed the clutch the basket was toast. The pressure plate and center hub were usable but beyond service specs.

I'm just shocked at the high cost considering how puny a cr80 is.

I can get a complete clutch including a remanufacture flywheel for my car for $150.
