CR 500 info

hope you guys can help.
i want to know what CR 500 engine parts are interchangeable.I ride a 2001 500 running an 86 engine.it allready has late model clutch cover, kick start gears and head.I want to install the later model clutch with the better release bearing instead of the old design.I'm about to replace the stock basket with a TALON one and want to know wether the late model pressue plate and bearing will work with it or will a complete late model clutch be the way to go.TALON tell me the baskets are different but cant tell me how.Is any thing else interchangeable??? gears and shafts ect.as i've been told some of the gears now are obsolete,and my honda dealer wouldnt have a clue if the latter model stuff fits....cheers

I think that the main difference in this case is the actuating rod and the throw out bearing. I had an '86 and had it modified to work like the newer models.
It involved shortening the rod a little and using the modern bearing. As far as the basket goes, you're on your own!:cool:
