my 1997 cr125 "6 speed steel framed" seized and cracked the case below the exaust port! will a 1998 cr125 motor "5 speed alloy framed" fit in this frame? or can these cracked cases be repaired? thanks,
The case can be repaired, I just welded a crankcase that was cracked by a rock. You should have them pickled prior to welding becaues it is very difficult to weld on oil soaked aluminum. The weld is very porous.
You can also buy new case halves from Honda. Service Honda has cases for $170 per side.
thanks for the weld info, sleeveing in cylinder is cracked and peice of sleeving mashed up the head and peices went down and cracked the casing, adding it all up a whole motor swap may be cheaper, local serv. tech. said 97 thru 07 cr125 motor would fit just need all electronics "cdi coil" for that year?
