Hi All,
I currently ride a 1990 cr500. I love the bike but want to tailor it a little more to my liking. I have been wanting a cr500af for awhile but can't afford one. I thought I might just put one together myelf. I've heard that you need a 93 or newer 500 motor to transplant. Is this true and why? Is the frame on a cr125 the same as a cr250? I see cr125 going for $1500.00 on **** all the time. I was thinking I could buy a cr125 and put my 500 engine in it. I know the springs will need changed but besides that I wonder what else would need changed? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

I think that they use a 125 frame now so that they can use the kayaba suspension instead of the showa. At least that is what they did with their special edition model. Good luck..

honda hasnt changed the basic motor in years so i dont see that your cases and mounting points are any different than the newer models
