Anyone know what type of gasket material is supposed to be used for the older style kx motors. The bike is an 86 kx125 that I am putting back together. I have all the gaskets but it looks like you have to make your own gasket with liquid gasket for the two center cases.
If soo is it something I can get at an auto parts store?

I remember for my 86 cr80, i had to make my own gaskets as well. Go to your local autozone, and ask for the gasket material. Hopefulyl you still have your old one, so you can trace it out, and cut it.

good luck

Permatex makes MotoSeal for sealing crankcase halves. This is available at your local automotive parts store. Your motorcycle dealers also carry their own brand. Yamaha's is called Yamabond, I don't know the names of other specific brands.

Take a look at the microfilms for the bike. If they list a gasket, you NEED to run the gasket. Without a gasket, the main bearings will be too close together and damage could result. Chances are, there is no gasket specified. Also, if the bike doesn't specify a gasket, you cannot use one.
