I have honed cylinders before in my small gas engines class, but I'm a little nervous about honing my dirt bike cylinder. It's a 01 Rm 125 and I will be changing the piston and rings soon, but I didn't think it was necessary to hone the cylinder since it's chrome plated and it would damage it. Wouldn't cleaning it up in warm water be good enough? I want to do this correctly, but I don't want to go out and spend alot of money on a honer and spend the time trying to figure out how to create the right cross hatch patterns at the right angle. Thanks, Mike

Simply clean off any glazing with a gentle scotchbrite pad. Dewater after cleaning to avoid corrosion. Usually I just spray brakeclean to do the whole operation. Oh yeah clean out the powervalves while you have the barrel off.

This is where you might want to open the manual.
