I am trying to remove the cylinder from an 89 KDX 200. I have tried putting penetrating oil down studs, rapping solidly with rubber mallet and trying to rock it with my hands. It doesn't budge. I am afraid if I hit it any harder it will crack the cylinder. Does anyone have any ideas?
I'm assuming the piston isn't seized. Apply some heat to the cases around the base of the cylinder (not too much heat!) and whack evenly and upwardly around the upper periphery of the cylinder with a soft mallet. The cylinder will take heaps! Use an electric heat gun or a oxy torch on low only if you know what your doing. AB
