This is just a little fyi...

As I was leaving home this morning, I passed by Pacific Raceway (as I always do) to see three State Troopers and a few of the track maintenance guys staring at someone's rendition of a Picasso in yellow on the main sign for the track. Who ever painted this work of art managed to include the letters S-I in front of the already existing R. As annoying and childish at the stunt was I thought it was a little on the amusing side of things. I'm just hoping that's all they messed up. Dang kids anyway. :|

All I do know is that Clem's lease of the MX track is up end of this season. Whether they decide to let him renew it or not, I'm not sure. I do know they are trying to attract AMA street racing... maybe motocross too. *fingers crossed* We shall see. They will be ripping up the track at the end of next season, is what I've been told. The mx pit will become the drag strip starting line and pits. Then mx will be moved to the opposite end of the track, where the existing drag pits are. It's all speculation, but after hearing the same things over and over again it's safe to assume it as being so. We won't know for sure until it all happens.

I was reading some literature that was sent to my work from Pac Raceways. In it they gave a rundown on all the improvements they have planned. If I remember right it said that they were either going to improve or put in a whole new MX track along with either a dirt or paved oval. They said that the end result would be a world class racing facility. They hope to bring back SCCA, CART and NASCAR to the area. I would really like to see all of this happen and with all the money they have already put into the drag strip and road course to me it looks promising. This was the first year I have watched the NW Nationals(drag racing) without hearing the pro`s whining about how bad the track surface was.

The track surface was never redone, so maybe the pro's decided to quit whining... yeah right. They are waiting until they redo the entire layout to work on any major improvements like that. All they did for this year was clean things up a little, just to get through the season. That place was such a pit... well, it still is, but with a brighter future in store for it. They have so much property out there that is going to waste right now. I can't wait to see what they make of that place.

They did redo the concrete pad at the start to a couple hundred feet out. That was the pro`s biggest gripe The old pad was severly uneven and caused the cars to pitch sideways violently if they got into the wrong groove. Not a good thing when you`ve have over 5000 HP propelling you from zero to 300+ in less than five seconds. I will tell you this the place is quite a bit nicer than that the first time went there back in 1986 youu want to talk about a dump. I really do hope they deliver what they have promised if they do it`s going to be an excellent motorsports facility.
