The primary difference between the two valves is that all the reeds on the new valve are the same size and "snap" in ( no screw retention ). Old valve has different size petals on the inner and outer part of the cage and are screwed on. It is my understanding there is no performance advantage.

Actually the V-3 is a major improvement over the V-2. The internal reed cage design has really become engine specific, unlike the V-2's.

In dyno testing on a YZ 125 with the V-2, we lost 1/2 to 1 HP over the stock reed cage right up the dyno curve.

The V-3 on the other hand, matched the std reed valve up to peak. Then added 1/2 HP and over rev. Thats a major improvement over the V-2.

So my advise is to get the V-3 or go back to the stock reed cage. For sure don't run with the V-2 anymore.
