2 KLX Questions (from someone bad with wrenches)

Two of my son's have KLX 110s. Today we went riding and each bike had a separate problem.

One of the bikes started and ran fine, but had a constant dripping of fuel out of an overflow/breather tube. It was bad enough that the bike ran out of fuel noticeably faster than normal.

The other bike started fine, but it wouldn't idle (it would die any time my son let off the throttle). Other than that the bike ran pretty well (a bit of popping, like mellow backfiring, in the pipes).

As I mentioned in the topic, I'm pretty bad with wrenches. I've never messed with any carburetors (not even to adjust screws). That said, I suspect that my problems are pretty basic. I hope that some of you guys can let me know what I should look at/adjust so I can try to do a little DIY (to save time, money and the embarrassment of taking bikes to a mechanic for something that I should be able to fix with nothing more than a screwdriver).

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a leaky float valve needle/seat on the first bike. Second one sounds a little lean. Is it noticeably colder now than the last time you rode? Might need to richen it up a bit with the pilot screw, and/or bump the idle up a bit to keep it running without throttle input.

I posted this message in the Thumber forum before I realized that this is a better place for it. Sorry for the double post.

Thanks biglou. I'll look into how to adjust pilot screw and idle adjustment (I know that neither should be too difficult). I have no idea what's involved in fixing a leaky float valve needle/seat. That may be beyond my limited skills (if it relates to a carburator and requires me to open it up or anything else other than a screwdriver, it's too much for me). Note, I reposed this question on the maintenance forum (which seems like a better place for it).

Thanks again.
