Could anybody direct me to a source for insuring offroad motorcycles. My homeowners won't do it, neither will my auto. I am mainly interested in theft insurance so I'm not completely screwed if they get stolen.

Thanks.

I went thru Allstate Insurance ,got the bacis minimum coverage which also covers fire and theft, runs $246 for the year.I do not run with a plate on so when I ride on the road to connect trails I take my chances. If I get caught it is a $35 fine for no plates but $1000 fine and impound of your bike on the spot for no insurance.

I added a motorcycle policy to my auto, without uninsured motorist. Since I only ride offroad this made sense, and I am covered unless racing. I didnt make a point of telling them I am a off road racer and they didnt ask. I use state farm and it costs all of $6 a month for $250 deductable full coverage! A no brainer IMO.

$42/Year for comp and collision. 2001 KTM 250 MXC. Shelter Insurance. They've got my home and auto also, but there's no discounts involved because of that.

$98.00 a year for a 2000 KTM250exc with State Farm.
$125.00 a year for a 2001 DRZ400s.

All my vehicles are insured through State Farm.

Age and previous driving history makes a big difference in price.

Progressive Insurance company - your local broker should be able to hook you up with them.

Progressive here, too. My Metropolitan agent set up the policy. Three bikes with liability and comp for $102 a year.

Just how much will the insurance company give you if your bike is stolen? I am also looking into insurance for my bike. There are several people I know who would steal my bike and totally trash it. If I get it insured I want to make sure they give me enough money to get a new bike. And if your bike does get stolen, will they only pay you bluebook? Do all your high dollar mods come into consideration? I would like to just have it insured for $5000 so I can at least get a new CR125 if my junker of an XR is stolen.

one of the reasons I went with state farm is they cover all excessories and blue book price of bike. I have had to deal with them in the past on auto stuff and they are great. I was also able to take off the uninsured motorist which was about 30% of the total cost of the policy. I dont know other motorcycle specific insurance companies do the same. I feel much better knowing that state farm is the one I would deal with.
