I have a 96 yz125 that has a white frame I wish to keep the frame white but I would like to make it look new again and I am wondering is there any good looking frame treatments that will last a season of racing and not bust the bank? :D

If you strip it down and take everything off, you can have it powder coated for a reasonable price. It'll last alot longer that way, and look better too.

If your looking to go cheap try some white appliance epoxy paint. DON'T spray it with high humidity or it will cloud AND take forever to cure otherwise it just takes forever to cure. I'd bet 2 or 3 cans would do the trick. It's not powder coating but it's about 5 times more durable than regular frame paint like PJ1.

Pj1 paint is epoxy and if you want a durable paint, the 99 yamaha blue made by PJ1 is a laquer and is VERY durable when used with clearcoat and the proper primer.

Yes the PJ1 frame paint IS epoxy based but it still comes up short on the durability scale. The kitchen appliance paint has a higher solids content and goes on much heavier so that it can match up with the finish of mom's stove. The down side is you get either black or white unless your going for the Avacado or Tan to match the 'fridge.:)

OK, wherer can you get appliance epoxy paint? Is it readily available? And what kind of primer should you use? My KX would look good w/a durable black paint job.

it is cool PJ1 makes frame paint, but I haven't had good luck with it lasting. IT rubs right off and if you spill gas or any chemical on it, kiss it goodbye.

Carbon Mastic paint is the most durable. But it is pricey. Two gallons, part A and part B, will paint loads of frames. It dries to the touch in 30 minutes and in two days it will take a nuclear bomb to remove it. The color can be matched to about anything. This stuff is its own primer and will hold up to all solvents and many acids. I've never seen this stuff scuff, chip or peel. Available from professional paint distributors.

perm. paint

As stated by someone else, POWER COAT is the only way to go! Hade my old cr250 powered way back in 95 and the guy who i sold it to still has it and all he or i ever did was a little scotchbrite with weslies bleachwhite (for car tires) and it still looks like brand new and even after all this time VERY little chiping is present. To make it all look like new we just use a little mop-n-glow on it and yhawhoooo day one! The mop-n-glow works on plastic too!!!!!!!!!!
