How in the heck do you fix a bike thats got water all in it

Heres what me and my friend did: took the spark plug out and pumped out the water with the kickstarter, aired out the airfilter, then kicked it at least 200 times.

we finally got it started but it would only idle for about 15 secs.
every time we hit the throttle it would die.

has anyone else done this?

waterlogged

You did some of the procedure, but more steps are necessary if you take your bike rafting  Take out the plug turn the bike over put it into third gear and spin the back tire-see any water? Flip her back over and take off the float bowl-clean carb completely (use contact cleaner if near trailer/car/home) get all the water out as best you can. Take off the ignition cover and drain/clean (use contact cleaner or wd-40 if available) Drain the oil and fuel from the bike and replace with fresh as soon as you get back to civilization. Curse your buddy for wasting your ride time trying to dry his bike. If its your bike: thank buddy and buy post-ride beers/food.

Do what motodr9 said! Then when you think you've got all the water out you'll still find some later down the road. Took me 5 good oil changes before my oil came out looking normal.
