Hi Guys

I bought a DT175 non runner a few weeks ago, its been in a shed for a few years. I stripped the carb and put in new fuel stop valve and jets, inspected the reed valve, fitted a new plug and flushed the fuel tank.

The bike started 3rd kick (yay!) and i have ridden it for about 7 miles. Only problem is it only does 35MPH!

It seems to run bad at all throtle positions, but occasianaly I can feel it coming on the pipe when I pull away from road junctions.

There is only a little smoke from the exhaust, engaging the choke while riding makes no difference or makes things slightly worse (running rich? the main jet I fitted (140) was 1-2 sizes bigger than the yamaha manual states (120-130) I have not checked plug yet (its was dark)

Any ideas why it is as why it is running so bad? it should do about 60!

Cheers, enjoy the weekend, im going to be stuck in my garage fixing this dirty little 2 stroke

slow DT

I once had an AT 1 (125) in which the pipe got clogged up due to the oil injection running too rich. I had to burn it out using welding gases.
Mostly, though, I think you are just too rich on the main.
