Easy Way to lower Fork Oil level in 1998 YZ400

Hi all,

I am decent at working on my bike, and want to reduce some of the oil, (lower oil level) in my forks, is there an easy way to do this? can I simply take off the top cap and pull some out with a syringe, or will there be many parts under that cap?

Hoping someone can give me a simple answer,

There are parts under the cap but none come out, you need to turn the leg upsidedown to remove oil-you may pour out too much but you can then measure the amount removed and add some back.
try removing 20cc from each leg.

Thanks so much. so once I remove the fork, remove the cap, then pour out 20cc? can I just drain that through the vent screw?

Thanks for the help, I drained 20cc through the vent hole, will test it out next weekend.
