Ok being winter up here in Canada not much for a young lad like me to do. Being 2 months before riding starts(2 1/2 until first race)I thought I should try to build my endurance up a bit. My question is whats the best way to do this? hard to go for runs when its 20-30 degrees celius(5-20 F) and I have no money right now to spend on work out stuff. So what do you think?.

Run in it, it will also toughen ya up a bit:eek: ,but anyways does anybody you know have a treadmill? Also I'm guessing since it's that cold you wouldn't really wanna go ride a bike outside.Do you have access to a school gym or anything of that sort?

Treadmill nope, school gym nope again my school is small living in a rural part of Sask. my school has a grade 1-12 pop. of 84 ouch!:scream: . I do go skating at the rink when ever I can and skate about 10 laps after our shinny game, but I'm looking for something else as well. But thanks for your help.

I am from Colorado where it is 5-20 degrees in the morning when me and my husband run. Just bundle up. Running (as long as you don't have bad knees) will get you into shape the fastest. Now if you just can't hack the cold then try these ideas.

Go swimming
Jump rope
Lift jugs of Milk

BE CREATIVE AND NOT LAZY

Good Luck

You can do some things indoors that are minimal impact and don't require much equipment or space.
I have played basketball at college level and besides having a huge gym we did a lot of stationary/ warm up conditioning.

1 mountain climber: get into an almost push up position, but put an upward arch in your back, you want to alternate running with your hands on the ground , it is good for abs. [you knees will come in and up towards your chest.

2. jumping jacks

3. plyometrics... jumping up on to a box a stair etc.one leg , two legs alternate etc... it increases fast twitch muscle fibers but also increases heart rate.

4. running in place,

5. believe it or not, areobics on tv will help, there is very little rest , but most shows are 20 minutes to a half hou,r that is a straight workout no resting, how long is a moto????

instead of weights use your own body weight, push ups, sit ups, deep knee bends, get into a basketball defenseive stance and see how long you can stay there, now shuffle left a few steps touch ground shuffle right touch ground etc......
