Hey, im trying to remove the engine studs off my 1985 yz125 before i send my cylinder to powersealusa. Does anyone know how to do this with basic garage tools or do i have to get a special tool?
They make some really slick stud removers these days. But if you don't have one of these you can take 2 nuts and jam them together on the stud and take a wrench and remove them.
soak it in boiling hot water-in a 5 gal bucket or something- use gloves! lol they will come out so so much easier- or heat it in a oven for a while-, most people don't want a stinky oven- so if you do clean it really well-
use 2 nuts- tighten them against each other use your wrench on the lower 1 and remove the stud-
Jam them a little more. Also, use a 2nd wrench to keep them jammed together as you turn. Finally, I'm sure you're doing this, but make sure your wrench is on the bottom nut while loosening and top while tightening.
