My bike hauler (1980 chev 1/2 ton) is in need of a little exhaust work. Basically everything from the back of the muffler is junk.

What I want to do is put glasspacks with tipdowns on. Now what I want some input on is the muffler.
What is a good glasspack that is cheap. I'm looking for a decent sound, yet not too loud. Maybe a bit of snap on acceleration.

Does anybody know what Purple Hornies sound like?

Thanks for any help.

Cherry bomb. I put one on my mazda and it was barely louder than stock. I also had THREE cataletic converters inline before it. Yes, on that model Mazda put three.. They probably quieted it down a little, so you application might be a little louder than mine.

Get a Flowmaster and be done with it. Better noise and performance than any $15 glass pack plus it will last longer.

I second the Patman on the Go-Master. You'll get better noise, more power & it'll never blow the (none) packing out! Glasspacks are for "nostalgia rods"

Don't waste your money on glasspacks.

Nice GGM, I remember way back from my auto parts days a guy asking for some of those mufflers with the woodpecker on 'em. Hehehe...

If my photographic memory serves me right, I swear the Thrush woodpecker looks just like the ones on the Team Honda bikes.:D
