Father who has a son wanted to get a dirt bike

Hello there ladies and gentleman. My name is Charlie and my 9 year old son would like a dirt bike for Christmas. He has been riding his cousins bike a honda 80 for the last several years whenever we visit and he very much enjoys this activity. I am a street bike rider ... never really got into the dirt bike thing ... but would like to encourage my son to have fun with an activity he enjoys. I would like some input from some people about what kind of bike I should start my son out on. The research I have done has me leaning towards a 70 or 80 cc honda ... However I would like to start him out on a used bike that has been well maintained any suggestions on where to start looking???

And then you need to get yourself a dirtbike, so you can have the gift of all the riding the two of you can do together.

As scooter said, you need to get a bike as well. Dirtbikes are a great family hobby.

Check out the Damn Yankee Dirt Riders forum for some folks in your area. They can also help you with places to take your son riding.
