Just call me Lucifer...

Man, I used to drive the teachers at Northgate Christian School insane when I'd recite those lyrics. I received a C in bible class because I memorized versus from Satanic music.

Devil Music? The Stones were OK in there time.;) :silly:
Step up and have a listen;

"Play heed this take of the prince of darkness,
Whom we're taught to fear from day number one.
The beguiling serpent, king of the underworld,
Betrayer and mocker of heaven's chosen one.
Evil and wicked dreamer, creator of sins,
Ultimate deceiver; longing to take you in.
He promises earthly glory, if you play his game;
"I won't let the firebombs hurt you, just
Number your head and take my name."

Heck, I'll even give you the song name, "Doomsday for the Deceiver"

I didn't realize they are considered the '84 CR500 of the music world. :p

Papa - Good music never goes out of style. When most of todays bands, currently polluting the airwaves with that crap they call music, are broken up and gone Mick and the boys will still be jamming away. Heck everyone knows Keith Richards died in '78 and he can still jam a good riff or two. ;)

Ok trivia time..The guy that produces Megadeths recent albums
is simply an AWESOME guitar player..Dana Huff
name that somewhat obscure 80's band he formed, produced, played ,sang and wrote all the lyrics in. as seen briefly on MTV ;)
one clue is their "time to burn" album cover reminded everyone of the greatest american hero TV show.

AJ-You're killin' me here!

I know, payback's a beach for the obscure movie quotes, right?!!
Coney Hatch-"Devil's Deck"
Iron Maiden RULES! (I feel like Beavis and Butthead here-Yeah, yeah, huh-huh, huh)
I've got that first RacerX album. It wasn't quite what I was looking for. At the time I was leaning more toward Anthrax and Megadeth, etc.
Danzig-YES! (Glen Danzig, former singer of the Misfits-"Die, Die, My Darling!)

AJ-There is a local band here called "Scene 24" that is a KILLER King's X cover band. They are actually playing tonight. They have a website, too. I don't know what it is but a search should turn up something if you're interested.

Personally-I've always been mostly into what I would consider angry, intelligent metal. Not the hair band stuff. But-there are a million exceptions to that. If I like something, I listen to it. Period.

LOL Big Lou-
awesome- See? i knew somehow that you would have a RacerX album laying around or a Coney Hatch album..
I'm impressed!
I have a few of each i think..hard to say i havn't dug thru the collection in awhile.

On the trivia question ..Mr Huff and his brother were "Giant"
listen to their Cd "last of the runaways" if your a guitarist, regardless your musical tastes, the guy is inspiring.
Too bad he now sticks to just producing, but honestly many solos on megadeths recent work sound alot like huffs vibe.

My personal tastes always lean toward heavier stuff..but as a cover band i got to wallow in the hair bands of the 80's music for a decade LOL
some really terrible stuff..lol but hey it was fun music.
I mean Warrant alledgedly killed the age of the hair bands right?
lol!!
and of course my fav seatle band- Queensryche

did Brittney Fox define hair band one hit MTV wonder for the 80's??
The vid for "Girls School" seems to - lol

ok back to our regularly scheduled rambling :)

Re: Queensryche.

I love those guys. Very gothic, moody and always a story. No "Pickin' up girlies" lyrics.

Ever listen to Type O Negative? That's some serious goth-rock there.

Ever listen to Type O Negative?
Funny you mentioned type o. In college my roomates and I wandered into the unversity radio station( not sober) to try to get some free stuff. After bugging the heck out of the people they gave us two Type O negative CD's. At first we thought they stunk, but they eventually grew on us. Next thing you know Type O is blasting out my roomates stereo system at 3am everynight. This was back in 95.

Goth? Sisters of Mercy! "Sing this corrosion to me. . ."

Bauhaus-- "Bela Lugosi's dead. . ."

I know this category. How about some Front 242, or Nitzer Ebb? (more Industrial than Gothic) Maybe a little Ministry or Fields of the Nephilim?

"Bela Lugosi's dead. . ." Gives me goosebumps. Don't know why, but a lot of songs just take you places, make you remember things and times past.

The Amboy Dukes-"Journey to the Centoer of Your Mind", perhaps?
I'm sure everyone knows which famous bow-hunter was in that group?!!

Whoa! You are takin' me back in the "way back machine". That was some of my favorite music in college. What about Caberet Voltaire? "Sex, Money, Freaks" is a classic.

Ah yes, but they were pre-grunge which means they didn't get the air play or respect that groups like Nirvana and Pearl Jam saw. Unfortunately most people think the whole grunge rock thing started with Nirvana. Actually they followed the road paved by Mother Love Bone and Soundgarden. Yes, the early days of the "Seattle Sound" were great at venues like The Firehouse in Ballard... especially since I only lived three blocks away.

Haven't heard that one in a while. I tried to D/L some Voltaire on Kazaa a couple of months ago--no luck.

I was sitting in a Burger King drive-thru (in my Ghia 'vert) with some Voltaire thumpin' when I met my last serious girlfriend. She got out of her car and walked back to ask who was singing. I shoulda married that girl. . . :ugg:

Was that 15 years ago? :scream:

Soundgarden! Now your talkin' Woods!:)

For a completely different sound
How 'bout

" I'm a cement mixer baby. A churnin' urn of burnin' funk!"

BTW - the album cover is Helloween Keeper of the seven keys '87
and the last set of lyrics (the one with all the devil references) was Flotsam and Jetsom.

I always liked Alice in chains, Soundgarden, Motherlovebone, Temple of the dog anD some of the early Pearl jam. Nirvana was ok to, but imo not as good as Alice in chains.

Nirvana was overrated, overplayed, and overappreciated. The Foo Fighters are far superior!

Pearl Jam I like, Evenflow, but Eddy Vedder needs to quit feeling sorry for himself. I figured he would be next to check out after Cobain did.

Soundgarden -- sad to see they're done, but they left us some good stuff! Outshined! Have you ever heard Johnny Cash do Soundgarden? Excellent!

Alice in Chains -- also some good music. Does anyone know where I can find Mad Season on CD (A band, not that crappy Matchbox Twenty song!)? (A in C's lead sang for them too)

Yeah, I remember you weirdos in your black trenchcoats and docs. I gravitated more towards Lords of Acid.... "Darling, come here....", or "I must, I must..."
