Re: AC/DC

IMO, some (but not all) of their best stuff was before BIB. "Walk all over You" from Highway to Heck, the entire "Powerage" album, then there was High Voltage (the first album) Let there be Rock, If You Want Blood. I also thought "Flick of the Switch", which came right after "For Those About To Rock" was a great album. They're later stuff doen't do much for me, but "Thunderstruck" and "Big Gun" are OK.

There was an AC/DC tribute album called "High Voltage" that had a bunch of industrial bands covering Angus and the boys. "Thunderstruck" was a standout on that album, IMO.

Anyone ever hear of a German band called "Die Krupps"? That's some sick stuff, there. The have a Metallica tribute album that is worth a listen.

Not lyrics, but lets test the amount of useless information floating around our collective cranium.
Name the Album(yes album) Band, and if you can, year.

Wild guess here:

Is that Kansas? It looks very familiar, but I don't own any Kansas albums. I've got a couple I taped back in the day but that's about it.

Kansas?! um . . . no.

hint:
One of the songs on the album contains the lyrics "I'm alive"!

Looks awfully familiar, but I know I don't own it personally.

Nice job of masking out the band name at the bottom, there Papakeith! I can't use it to give me a hint.
Oh, and the lyric hint isn't much help. Do you know how many songs contain the phrase "I'm alive"?? Sheesh.

"You've schemed - you've lied - you've hit - you've burned
With my bat swinging says you'll learn
Only need one thing
My date with hate..."

"I can't believe no one has mentioned Boxcar Willy yet!"

When I'm drunk enough to get up and Karaoke, Dust in the Wind is my tune of choice. Mellow yes, but the ladies all swoon.:scream:

Lou, AC/DC died with Bon Scott. :( The early stuff is all I have, and I have most of it.

" I got a one-way ticket. . . goin' the wrong way."

I gotta throw some Bulletboys in the mix. The Cult, too.

Accept did 'Balls to the wall'

How about Axe and 'Rock -n- Roll party in the street'?

I have had Back in Black in every media except reel to reel!

Okay grampa, now grab your cane and false teeth and hobble on down the road.

Just kidding JP, but seriously AC/DC did produce some good stuff after Bon Scott. Now The Cult, Sanctuary and Love Removal Machine always rank high on my list of "good" cuts.

Hey, just because I had all their stuff on eight -track doesn't make me old. . . does it?

Back In Black is the only 2nd generation album I really like.

I had all of Nugent's stuff back in high school. I heard Stranglehold in Ohio last week (for the first time in 20 years) and it still holds up.

"Waiting here on line
Suddenly from behind
She's still a block away
Why'd it have to be today
Now what do I see
She recognizes me
She hugs and squeezes me
She's the Spandex Enormity!"

I know this one! Spandex Enormity - by M.O.D. featuring my boy Billy Milano. I've got a signed concert T from the Hate Tank tour.

Easy:
Shut your mouth and get back in line
If you don't like it well that suits us just fine
We pull the levers we pull the strings
and these are just a few of our favorite things
Learn the words of the company song
right is, right is, right is wrong
Come on children all sing along
If you think you can change you were never more wrong.

Somewhat harder:
"Fudge" the middle east
there's too many problems
they just get in the way
we could sure live without them
they hijack our planes and raise our oil prices
lets kill em all, have a ball and end their "fudging" crisis.

Good stuff:

MTV get off the air - Dead Kennedys, "Fudging" Hostile - Pantera, Peace Sells - Megadeth, I am the Law - Anthrax, Where eagles dare - Misfits, Vengance - Nuclear Assault, Elimination - Overkill, Raising the Dead - No Mercy, You can't bring me down - Suicidal Tendencies. . . the list goes on . . .

Well I went down to the local arena
Asked to see the manager man
he came from his office
said "son can I help you"
I looked at him an said "yes you can"

yea I wanna drive the zamboni
yea I wanna drive the zamboni
yes I do

Now ever since I was young
it's been my dream
that I might drive the zanbomi machine
I'd get that ice just as slick as could be
and all the kids would look up to me

yea I wanna drive the zamboni
yea I wanna drive the zamboni
yes I do

Anyone who's been to a hockey game has probably heard that one.

Hey Jeff Gilbert- will you be heading to a Guitar Center to try out?

I actually interviewed this band in 1987, during my stint as a DJ, when they were touring in the US.

:) Actually that's the album name on the bottom. I removed the Band name from the top! :)

I've got a killer idea!

Whataya say that once a year, we all get together for a big party? We can do it somewhere in the middle of the country, we can bring our dirtbikes, get sponsors, prizes, the whole shabang. We can call it: "Spodefest", NO, WAIT, "DirtWeek"! :debil: I know, I know. Smart-aleck!
Seriously, we should rent a hall sometime and bust out the old vinyl and drink a few, um, sodas!:)

It all still holds up! Ted oughta be president! He'd probably face impeachment (probably for telling some panty-waisted senators to kiss his ass!) but it would be fun while it lasted!

I gotta give it up for the BulletBoys also, but I lost their first effort, and I could never find it available on CD. (don't give me that crap about LPs being superior--with hearing like mine, it just doesn't matter!) Anyone know where I can find it?

And don't forget:
Take me down slow an' easy! -- name that band! The lead singer spent some time with Deep Purple, and they had former members of Rainbow and Thin Lizzie . . . :think

Sounds like a fabulous idea, BigLou! (Now get back to work!! :) )

Everyone bring your drum kits, bass rigs, and Marshall stacks and we'll have a knock down, drag out, rock and roll party in the streets!

(How's that, Offroadr! Got the Axe cassette still floating around the house)

Hair metal was an over commercialized perversion that very nearly destroyed the metal scene entirely. Noted mainly for poor fasion sense and vapid lyrics that rarely rose above the waistline those hair bands can't hold a candle to the (former) muscular strength of (former) Metallica's speed metal assault, the high speed virtuosity of Megadeth or the pure out rage of Slayer.

But darn me if I don't like Europe's "Final Countdown."
