Thanks Canyncarvr, Wibby, SkipPro3, Jason Who, Rich Rolich, Canadian Dave and everyone who helped me get my 03 KDX 200 dialed in. I finished the jetting process this weekend, changed the gearing with a 14 tooth countersprocket, and had a top SERA A rider adjust the suspension.

What a difference. It's no where close to what it was like when I bought it new 6 months ago. When I got it, it was a lot weaker than my KX250 and the rear suspension danced all over the place. Now, it has twice as much power as it did when I picked it up and it's glued to the trail.

I rode it all day Saturday and it did not wear me out like it used to. I rode twice as fast as before because the gearing smoothed out the bike and the suspension kept the bike planted through the turns, jumps, downed trees, and washouts, etc. I can't wait to head to Kentucky this weekend for the LBL 200.

Thanks again guys. What an awesome site.

I'm using 14 & 47 sprockets, an FMF Gnarly -35 Woods Pipe, a 155 main jet 1 clip from the top & a 45 pilot jet 2 turns out, and the air box cover cut out. The jetting gave me enough power to use the 14 tooth sprocket which is awesome. The gears pull long, hard, and smooth like the YZ400F I rode for a while (when I could crank it). With the 13 tooth sprocket, the bike ran hard but ran through the gears really fast which meant no top end and a lot of shifting in the woods. Now I can go from 5-25 and never leave 2nd gear in tight woods.

JasonWho, you must have been in Ovett (south of Laurel). I planned to go, but I am heading to KY this weekend for the LBL 200 and I didn't need to be out two weekends in a row. If you head back this way, we'll have to get together.

Thanks again

I've got several friends who rode in that enduro. From what I hear the trails got pretty muddy if you were on the late rows. Hopefully, you were up at the front.

The LBL (Land Between the Lakes) 200 is a 200 mile dual sport in Cadiz, Kentucky. Most of our riding (in our group) will be on trails. It's nice scenery and the trails are more open than where I normally ride. It will be fun to be able to ride in 4th and 5th gear for a change. We are going to try and do 150 miles Saturday and 50 miles Sunday.

This is my first dual sport, so I have no idea what to expect. All I have ever ridden is Motocross, Hare Scrambles and Enduros. As I get older, the idea of a fun ride through open trails with a little more speed sounds interesting. I'm going with a few guys from our club who have been several times and they assure me it is a blast. If it is fun, we're going to another 200 mile dual sport in the Ozark Mtns in Arkansas in about three weeks. I hear that one is real fun and closer to an enduro format with trails full of big hills and typical mountain terrain.

I'll let you know how it was next week when we get back.

Have a good weekend-

JCW,
You are the first I've heard of that went larger on the CS sprocket and kept the stock rear. I am intrigued and would like to know more of your experiance. How is it in the tight woods or those gnarly steep hills that don't let you know they are there until you round a corner and see it? How about if you stall on a hill? Any troubles getting fowrad motion going again? I got a buddy with a brand new KX500 that just removed his stock 14 tooth, may try it now. Thanks for the info and the positive feedback!
