floating front rotor

My son's '01 rm125 needs a new front rotor,I'm looking at Braking or Galfer rotors-they make a floating and non-floating wave rotor. What are the advantages/disadvantages of each? Oem rotor is non floating.

I believe the floater are supposed to cool down and disappate heat faster, thereby, having better response.

I thought the advantage of the floating rotor is that if it gets a mild warp it can still work affectivly.
