gas cap leaks on 01 300exc

Anyone else have their gas cap leak on there exc with the clear tank. mine is not to bad but it spews fuel down the sides of the tank after some whoops. Any easy fixes? And no i didnt overtighten it, i already learned my lessons with that on my kx250.
Also what is my lighting coil wattage i have heard to many answers to know which one is right, the pamflet says 110w but the manual says 40w. Someone has to know! thanks

Take a close look at the gasket inside the cap. This kind of thing happens fairly often, even on the old black tank, and even the new MXC tank. Take the gasket off from the inside of the gas cap and carefully and properly re-install.

I don't ride exc's - can't answer the wattage question.

Also look at the top of the opening. Several have been deformed. You may be able to file it flat, that worked on mine once. One of my friend's was so bad that KTM replaced the tank.

In your parts manual on page 17 there is a picture of the two ignitions.
2K2 and 2K3. 2K2 40watt 2K3 110watts. Pop the cover off your ignition
and have a look to see what you have

Gas cap

I had to buy a second rubber gasket and cut the bulb out of the center to get a double thick gasket to stop mine from leaking all over. Worked well and only cost $5
