Gear Box oil in the ccccold??

I'm gonna drop this here and in the Enduro forum too. to get as much input as possible.
I have a ATK 250, my son a KTM 125.
I run Belray 75 wt oil, 80 in the summer. I dump it just about every week.
We went for a ride yesterday, (like 19 degrees out) and shall we say the clutches were dragging? shifting a bit slow and notchy??
What oil do you guys run in the cold, (under 30 degrees??)
I used to run Ford ATF in my '99 KDX 200, but the shifting was notchy, so I dumped it out as soon as the weather warmed a tad.
