I actually have a 2 stroke race CAR. Sorry. . . I know precisely the gear ratio that I want, plus a bit on either side for fine tuning.
So. 11 teeth minimum front teeth? My current numbers end up with a 12/60 (based on current BELT drive gears and desired top speed). Any particular reason to use a particular number of teeth? Smallest rear gear? With 12 teeth (or 11), the lowest number of rear teeth?
i see myself going 12 teeth front, and any adjustments being up or down one front tooth. . .
I can quite easily calculate the gear ratio. My question is a bit more esoteric, though. Is there any reason to use 11, 12, 13, etc, on the front gear, and "whatever" on the rear gear to achieve a certain gear ratio?
I am currently at 4.80. I desire to try 5.00. This works with 12/60 or 11/55. What is the reason to use one or the other?
Given, of course, that both gears will be new. . .
