Getting movies on the iPod

I scrimped and saved and managed to get my delicate flower a new iPod with the video capabilities. I'm putting the call out to the technogeeks again:

Please to be explaining how to put a movie off a DVD I already own into the iPod for viewing pleasure? I know iTunes sells them, but by golly, if I can put the CD music I already own on the iPod, why shouldn't I be able to do the same with DVD movies I have?

You need a DVD converter.

Oh, and be patient it will take awhile to convert.
