Getting rid of an old computer.

I have a hardly used, 15 year old Swan PC-XT computer that I want to get rid of. I hate to just throw it out. Does anyone know if there is any market for it?

Hate to say it... not even a decent paper weight. Toss it out with a salute.
3 years ago, I tried to donate a 486 to a church, then a school, both declined the offer!

Not that it matters in this case, but there are places that will take or even pick up used equipment and refurbish it, if necessary, for a charitable cause. In this case, a nice, charitable boat anchor maybe?!:D

Now, now. With all of the advances in garage door openers, there is a secondary market for all that left over 8080A technology:confused:

Lori-If my computer here at work ever craps out, the Commodore would be a step up! Actually, I've got a 266Mhz with a 2gig hard drive. I'm expected to run Outlook/AutoCad/AS400/Word/Excel/play CD's and surf DRN all at the same time! Not bloody likely! I've got about 300meg of free space left on the C drive. Barely enough to run one program. It's embarrassing, really. But I'm on the "Request" list for a new PC next year (If I still have this job, that is). There are people here running 800Mhz and 1GHz towers and faster hand-me-downs than mine. I'm the fourth guy to have this computer. There's so much crappola on it, I don't know what to delete or keep. Could be worse, I could be unemployed (or unemployable:eek: ).

I think the C64 had the Motorola 6800 processor (same thing right) :D

I donated mine to the salvation army and put $200 on a receipt that they signed. They may end up throwing it out but I got a tax break out of it. If your in the 15% tax range you’ll make $30 on the deal come tax time.:)

Believe it or not, 'vintage' computers are now becoming collectible. Values are very low, but there are a herd of 30-something computer geeks that long to relive their youthful love affairs with their long lost TRS-80s, Kaypros, PC-Jr.'s et al
