Are you ready for a good time. It is next weekend. I am doing my best weasle imitation at work to get some time off. My boy and I are going down Friday night and staying the weekend so he can see the 4-wheelers on Saturday. I hope the weatherman is paying attention and gives us a nice weekend.
Are there any others going down there. I heard some talk earlier.
Email me at straka@cablerocket.com and I send you my cell phone number (if it works it that remote area).
There is some other FM roads that cut across to Gilmer and there is a little time saved (~1/2 hr). You do not have to go through Pittsburg. You can get off I-30 at Sulfer Springs. I would have to look at a map to find the road(s) again. It is about 2 hours or less from Dallas depending on your location. I can make it from Sherman through Greenville in about 2.5 hrs.
I know about the FM roads, but they are kind of scary in the dark. I was giving the route with the least number of turns and road changes. If you go through pittsburg on 271, once you get to gilmer you make 1 left turn at the golden corrall and it takes you right to Barnwell mountain :)
You are right. I'm bummed out. This was like hittting a moving target for me. It was suppose to be the end of month and then I heard it was moved to a later date. I got something wrong somewhere. I even had the dates right on the last posting. I messed this up bad.
Does anyone want to go riding this weekend at Gilmer this weekend. I have a 3 day weekend off.
Mudslinger, I have a rare Saturday off, might make it up then.
Are you staying all w/e or what time would you be there?
I would be making a one day run.
I am thinking about going Friday nignt after my boy gets out of school at 3:30-4:00. It is a 2.5 hr drive for me. I will be there all day Saturday and pack up sometime Sunday afternoon. Look for a Red 4X4 Dodge PU with a cap. I have 2 Yamies on a black 5x10 trailer. I may put up my big green/silver tarp.
I am not sure of their camping areas so I am not sure where I will be.
Camping is on top of the mountain. Stretches out for a pretty good ways. If you need hook-ups they are in a central spot.
L et me know for sure and I am in.
Have ridden there once and raced last years GNCC.
Have a friend who knows it well and can fill me in. Should be able to hit the GNCC loop plus the 20 mile m/c only loop.
Let me know for sure. 5 hour drive to play by myself!!
I'm planning on making it this Saturday too. I sure hope the rain holds out. Sounds like there should plenty of us to ride with. I'm curious as to what trails the GNCC guys made for us! :ride: :ride: :ride:
At Last look, there was a 30% chance of rain with moderately cool weather (60s) for Friday & Saturday. Sunday is dry and low 70s. A little mud and rain won't hurt. Riding weather.
