We had a great time, no rain.....woohoo.....I met some really nice guys and rode with some other riding buddies too.

Got to ride a KX500, a KTM 450 and a WR250. I liked the thumpers a lot but the big K5 was just a little scary :yikes: in those tight woods. Don't get me wrong, it was a sweet ride and had tons of power in the open areas but just to much for very tight single track. May'be it's because it had been modded a good bit? I don't know much about 500's so I'm really not sure. The owner told me it wouldn't run on less that 112 octane and it did seem hard to kick over but I've never rode any other 500's so I really don't know if they're all hard to kick over or not.

The KTM 450 seemed like a John Deere pulling up those trails and I could lug it and just cruise, it was so different than my KX250. The WR250 is also a super sweet ride and makes it very difficult for me to decide my next bike, a WR250 or WR450 , no, I'm not crossing over to the dark side, :nener: I'm still keeping my KX, but those thumpers are still great bikes. I'd even look hard at a KTM if they wern't so expensive.

Anyway, we had a great ride at Barnwell expecially on some of the just run GNCC track, so if you've never been there, give it a try sometime.

Nice to meet you guys. Sorry the group ride didn't go as planned. 20 drgrees warmer would have been nice.

We had a great 2 loops. The mountain is a little tough first loop to us flatlanders. Use to sand and mud not rocks.

Ghost let me know when you want to come down and will work it out.

We'll be back soon.

Sounds like a good plan to me. I'm looking forward to riding Sam Houston and that other area you talked about near Sam Houston. Let me know when you're ready to do Barnwell again. Sorry your brake broke but sometimes things happen.

Hey guys, I had a great time too. The new GNCC trails kinda changed things up a bit!

Ghost: I shouldn't have ridden Robert's KTM450, now my wr250 feels like a puppydog. LOL I think you broke him in good, I don't think he'll buy a KX250 anytime soon! LOL I checked in on him today, he's kinda sore to say the least.

Woodsguy: glad to meet you guys, maybe thngs will go better next time. Atleast the weather held out. It didn't even rain on Sunday, but I didn't get to go. All together a good weekend.

Randy: I guess you got another day of riding in?

I know what you mean on the KTM, it was cool almost idleing up those hills.

Glad to hear Rob is only a little sore and that it was no more serious that a few bruises.

Thanks everyone for the good time. I really enjoyed the time away from work and meeting everyone. That was some good riding. I missed riding the hills like that since I am from Eastern Ohio and Western PA . The do not make hills like that north of Dallas.

I liked the GNCC course but wish they would not have plowed some of it under with the dozer. I found more GNCC track in the back section and it was tore up pretty bad in areas so I understand why they did that. I rode much of the back area Sunday morning. There were plenty of gnarly hills and trails back there too. I tried some of the hills, made a few, and had to turn around on a few. Some of the jeep trails were rough, rocky, and all tore up bad. I was afraid to push it riding by myself but another time on another weekend.

I got rained on at night. Both nights. It was just enough to wet the dust and make the sand sections more fun to ride The wind kept knocking down my tarp and I did not get much sleep. It is funny how lack of sleep just does not seem to matter when your having fun.
