If going with a big wheel 85/100 sized bike, the 2000 or newer KX's will be the better trail-riding motor.......they are equiped with a powervalve which will give you better low-end (less "lightswitch"). The bigwheel RM 85 also has a good powervalved motor (perhaps even more trail-friendly than the KX) I'd look for either a 2000 or newer KX100........the RM100, or the RM85 Bigwheel. Also, as stated above, the TTR can be modified into a much more aggresive machine.

The KX 100 is the same size bike (wheels and frame) as the big wheel 85s. It just has a slightly larger motor (100 cc vs. 85 cc).

Folks who are trying to sell you a 100 will tell you that the extra 15cc makes the bike's power delivery less peaky. I have never ridden an 85 and the 100 back to back, but the 100 does not seem all that horribly peaky to me, so maybe they are correct.

KX100 makes less peak HP but more torque, which makes it a friendlier bike and definitely a better woods bike. Add a 10-12oz flywheel weight and you'll love it (smooths power out, makes it much harder to stall).

Ok thank you all so much, now all I need to do is a little searching to find a 2000 or newer used bike that I'll like 85, 100, or 125 will have to test them out. I'm sure I can find someone to let me test ride their bike. Thanks everyone so much!

I live in Holland, we go to the Muskegon Sandbox quite a bit to ride during the week. Well except right now..

If you are going to wait until Spring or if the weather gets a little warmer. I will let you try out my 125.

Don't listen to the negativity of that guy. Wait until spring and I'll let you give my 125 a try at Muskegon Sandbox. I think you will be very unhappy on a 85cc. Also if you plan on racing MX in the women's class, your bike has to be at least 99ccs.
