At a Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) event, a fuel stop can win or lose a race. Team managers and mechanics will tell you one of the most stressful tasks at a GNCC is calculating what kind of fuel mileage a rider is going to get and when to pit their rider. After all, if you take two pit stops and the competition can get by with just one, then you’ve lost a good 20 seconds.
