I need your assistance. At TNT I have a problem with a jump there I beleive I have heard people call it the " ant Hill " because it has a tank under it. Anywho its the jump following the whoops that you double through than after the small double around the next corner its like a table top ? anywho on my 125 I hit it in 3rd gear preety fast and from what I know your front wheel always leaves the ground atleast 2 feet before the actual top of the jump. So when I hit this jump due to the front wheel comming off the jump sooner than the rear I land up going vertical. Is this caused by me hitting it with to much speed ? I have seen some guys come burling out of the corner and slow down for it than blip the throttle on the face and clear it just fine....now me on the other hand I hammer it out of the corner like everyone else then keep it steady 3/4 throttle in 3rd gear up till the face then I let off and blip it one good time on the face and I go vertical. I try body english and tapping the rear brake and holding it but yet it never gets my front end down as far as I would like it . I would love to hit it just fine needing no adjustments any suggestions ? Should I take it slower and then hit it wide open on the face of the jump or take it steady down the straight then blip it on the face ? i think speed is whats killing me I also over jump it BAD 2 out of 4 times....and bottom HARD ! any help would be great.

Wow, Cam was right! (OK, I know it has happened before, but it startles me every time! :scream: )

Since you have more than enough run at it, I shift to 4th and hit it with a steady throttle at fairly low RPMs. This keeps the front end down for me. I've done that on both 250s and 125s. Since you're overjumping it, grabbing one more gear and hitting it with less RPMs and less power should pitch you perfectly.

I also try to get fairly forward for the takeoff... www.mindspring.com/~mnyland/Barrel_Takeoff.jpg
and push the bars forward and down for the landing... www.mindspring.com/~mnyland/Barrel_Land.jpg

(Obviously I've ridden there way too much if I have multiple pictures of almost every jump out there)

Thanx I appreciate the help ill try that this weekend if I can make it out there. comming off of 2 broken wrists from overjumping the table top out there that is after the double, double, double. So anything that has to do with overjumping or harsh landings I am trying to cut that out and make everything more smoothe or atleast have a better judgement.

Just a few more questions since your the expert at this track. How should I go about hitting those whoops along the fence...I been thinking of hitting those in 2nd gear and once I get on them just pin the throttle lean back on the seat and hold on for life...has anyone skimmed them yet ? I see it looks like someone hit the fence and broke part of it so I know someone hit them wrong...they are scarry and most likely not even as steep and hard as the Supercross real whoops ? Anywho what about that single onto the table top ? I hit the table top before it in 3rd gear should I just pin it when I land in 3rd and hold on or will I over jump it ? does it throw you weird ? How far of a gap is it ? looks like 60 feet to me but looks scarry. Thanx in advance.

No expert, just very familiar.

I haven't seen them since Anthony redid them.

I haven't jumped that either. I took myself out of commission for a few months right after they put that in. Anthony told me that he leaves it almost pinned in 3rd. I haven't seen it in a month, but the left side originally didn't throw you as high, so it looked much easier. I think the first tabletop is about 45-50 feet and then the single to the tabletop is 85 ft to the downslope, but you can land anywhere on top. Be careful and look out for slower moving non-jumpers.

Wow sounds fun I looked at the left side and it looks to me to be more rolled over I thought that was the side that the people who wasent jumping it hit it at. So the right side throws you high ? to high or just enough to get you over ?

Yardpro,
I hit the Morehead area also about every 4-6 weeks. I do some business with Gene's Audio, Total Audio Concepts, and Anderson Audio. I have spent so much time there the place feels like a second home.

HEY GOOB!

next time your at that track tell the owner to get rid of every one of those tires they have buried half way into the ground!!!

One of my good friends at 19 years old caught a foot peg in a tire like that and seperated his head from his spine, took a year to get back to a normal life! NOt to mention my right Knee will never be the same after I stuck my foot in one of those at Lake WHitney in '84! I see those things and man I am like who ever thought of that in the first place should be shot!

oh by the way those pics are cool! now show the upper part of the pictures where you have the cable holdin your butt up!

Ouch! I never thought that they might be a danger. He put them there to keep people from cutting the track and pulling back out in front of others. Any suggestions for a better barrier?

I spent *hours* pasting my picture in there...don't think I left the cables in!

I use

plactic 55 gallon drums, they don't look as purty as tires half in ground, but fall over when hit. Use a little water or sand so they don't blow away. Not to much don't want to have a barrier that don't "give".

AJ at one time was the "main supplier" of plastic drums in this state! we have them every where!

good pics you have i looked thru many of them.

are alot of your tracks out there stadium style or just stadium stuff planted in outdoor venues?

I'm sure there are better ways to get them, but I paid $10 each for mine...I can't imagine how many you'd need to fence in a track.

As far as the style of tracks around here, most are more like Byron. I just happen to have most of my pictures from TNT and a few from the JMX Saturday night SX (style) series.

SOme advice for the jumps

If you keep coming front end high on a jump change your body position on the face of the jump, for example lean forward more. The faster you are going to hit a jump the more you need to be on the front end of the bike.

Not exactly...the harder you are accelerating, the farther forward you generally need to be. If you hit something fast while coasting, you would want to be farther back than if you were going slower, but accelerating hard.

I'm sorry, he said he was accelerating hard in the first post, so that is what I was refering to when I said faster, I just didn't word it correctly at all. Thanks for clearing it up!
