Last year Cody D ended his season flying over a log in a corn field at 60 MPH. This year Cody Mastin is hurt badly in a field as well. Saturday I as well as maybe 15-20 others got screwed on some bad arrowing and missed check #2 so DQ'ed on Sat. OK, re boot and ride Sunday. I got a flat at the end of the section before the long one before gas. Heather S. helps me air up the tire and I check into the long section 1 min late, air comes out in a mle or so and i ride that 12 mile section with a flat rear. Don Marsh gave me air and i rode the next section with about 50 LBS in the rear and kept crashing in the muddy logs, so I crash my brains out in the mud. , . I did my best to get to gas, Tommy dunn Gets the spare wheel on at gas. Re focus and do real well in the second to last section from the finish-after the check out (ck#9) the connector trail is in a ditch with a bunch of junk in it and somehow I clip the end of my right hand pinkie on a steel fence post or something and take the end of my finger off-day is done. DNF and a shorter finger. End up spending the rest of the afternoon in the emergency room with Steel Man Ted and Connie. When I get back I find out my 2 other row buddies got flats in the very last section as well-so none of us had a great weekend as we all got DQ'ed on Sat and flats on Sunday. I';m on good drugs now and the finger will eventually be OK, but may never have a finger nail on it again and the SOB hurts! I'm thinking I may use Goshen as a drop next year before I get killed or something-those 70MPH corn fields are nuts.
Come to think of it I think Smitty broke his collar bone here last year or the year before. :coocoo:
