Happened right in front of me.

Here is the low down on what happened leeding up to the incident in the pit area just off of the track.

Goss. was leeding the race on on the final lap going into the first whoop section Thain makes the pass, Goss. gets a great drive out of the the following berm leeding into the next whoop section. Goss. is coming up to make the pass on left of Thain through the whoops, when Thain appears to get out of rhythm, slow and drift left on the track. Goss. plows into him from behin sending both riders down in the whoops.

Goss. remounts and is able to still finish 3rd. As Thain comes around after the finish line jump, Goss. is still setting on his bike talking with the honda pit crews when Thain approch from the track and pops Goss. from behind sending him to the ground pretty hard. The tap from behind was NOT a full speed ram, but it was hard enough to knock bike and rider down pretty hard. Thain hopped of his bike and raised his hands in a challeging to fight manor (not clinched fist but to the outside as if saying what the f&%). Goss. stayed on the ground injured while Thain was detained by the Honda and Yamaha crews. Thain was escorded of the track by crew and officals and Goss. took his spot on the Podium.

My opinion is that the racing on the track was clean and the passes or attempts were just racing. The stuff that Thain pulled in front the 52,000 in the stands was bull and he should be fined. This issue could have been addressed in private in the pits if Thain felt like Goss took him out.

Goss. should have got up and tried to put a beat down on Thain get him in the pits. That crap was bull and had I been on the receiving end of Thain's bike, It would have taken a hell of alot more then the couple crew members to get me off of him.

Thains off the track actions may have resulted in Chris Gosselaar injuring his ankle. The ankle issues may keep Goss off the bike for a couple days. Shouldn't keep him from racing in San Diego, but can you imagine if he would have been more seriously injuring. I think that Thain is getting off easy for his actions.

Wow, what a fine. Looks like the AMA levied another useless fine. If this happened in Nascar, I would bet it would have lead to a fine, disqualification, and suspension from one or more races. This type of action from the governing body would get the attention of the riders. If you choose to conduct youself in those types of un-sportsmanship conduct. You will lose points that may hurt your ability to win the championship. Just my take on the situation.
