Head Gasket?

I recently had the head shaved on my son's 50. I forgot to order a new gasket (It uses a thin metal head gasket). Anyway, I was wondering wether or not I could re-use the original gasket being that it is metal. My son wants to ride this weekend and I'd like to make it happen but I don't want to damage the bike.

Any help is appreciated.

they always say you need to replace it. what kinda condition is it in? if it's not in really good condition, go to your closest dealer and pick one up. or worst case, put the only gasket on with some silicon. then order a new one and put it on when ya get back.

the problem with using an old crappy gasket is you'll get an air leak. i'm pretty sure u know this, but just in case u don't i thought i'd write.

so if it bolts up tight, and there's no leak, your good to go.

on using the silicon, umm...i would go with a high temp silicon gasket maker

this chart should help u out more than i can. there's a few to choose from. just make sure not to let it get in the water jacket...for obvious reasons.

The gasket is crushed and will not seal correctly. They are designed to be one time use for a reason.

Trying to make it seal using silicone is not an option.
