HELP!! I've got water pump woes...

My 98 KDX220 has been slowly weeping a very small amount of coolant out the weep hole. I thought I would be smart and fix this before a big ride this sunday. There does not appear to be any coolant leaking into the engine, so I thought I'd just replace the cover gasket, and the o-ring. After I very carefully removed the cover and impeller, cleaned the o-ring and cover gasket surfaces, and re-installed the parts, the coolant is now running profusely out the weep hole. Does this make any sense? Is it the mechanical seal in that is damaged... I doubt I can get anymore parts before Sunday, so it looks like I may be relagated to riding my DRZ...

Can anyone shed any light on this for me,

Thanks much!

Sounds like the impeller seal is shot... better to find out in the garage than on the trail. At least you have an alternate ride :)
