Hey guys I sold my cbr to get an sm. I got 5 g's to play with and I am torn between 3 bikes. the first is an 02 ktm 525 with around 2000 mi that comes with pretty much every ting I want. A scotts damper and sm plus the off road wheels for $4300. the thing is this bike has a pa street title and I don't know what issues i'm going to have registering it in the socialist republic of new jersey. The second is a 05 ktm 525 smr for 4500 the problem is it only has the sm wheels and I want to be able to swap between sm and off road wheels easily. I dont know how hard that would be with the radial stile brakes on the smr. this bike has a jersey street title and is currently registered, but I would have to spend 600-700 to get off road wheels and a mounting kit for my damper that was on my cbr. The 3rd is a brand new huqvarna wr300. I have never owned a two smoke and don't know any thing about husqvarnia. I have only owned jap bikes. The huski comes with a 30 day warrenty and is registered when you buy it, so no issues with nazi motor vehicals. it comes with off road wheels 17 inch wheels are nice but I think I would be happy with trials tires on the stock wheels. It can be had for 5950 icluding tax. long read I know thanks for any advise.

An 02 525 for $4200 is very high..I would expect to get an 05 to 07 for that price..that bike would sell for around $2800-$3000 around Dallas. I am on Cragislist daily looking for deals. Even the '05 SMR for $4500 seems high to me. You are going to spend $700 for wheels then have $5200 in an '05? Thats alot for a 5 year old bike. The 2 stroke would not make a good supermoto...I would strike the Husqvarna. If you are patient, you can find better deals on the KTMs or maybe consider a CRF450X or WR450. For example, I just bought a 2001 WR426 for $1900..one owner and he rode it rarely..it has 1150 miles and looks almost new.

Sounds like you need to do a little more homework on exactly what you really want / need as well as what may be involved in getting a bike registered. Getting the PA bike setup in NJ might be as easy and paying the taxes or it might be much more complicated, check it out on your local DMV site.

You sure about that Husky being street legal? Last I knew, the only new 2 strokes that were street legal in the US were mopeds/scooters with tiny engines.
