I just bought my first dirtbike, a 2005 Honda CRF250R. Since it was used I wanted to do a complete fluids change. I went to my local shop and told them what I had, and they sold me some various products. The trany fluid is "Bel Ray Gear Saver SAE 80W". I was just about to change the fluid tonight when I was reading the back of the bottle, and it says "for 2 stroke motorcycle engines"

Can I not use this on my 4 stroke? Is there another kind of trany fluid for my thumper, or will this work.

I'm totally new at this sport, and dont want to mess up my bike by putting the wrong thing in.

Thanks Guys

2-stroke and 4-stroke transmissions are identical in design and construction. Only the gear ratios are different. Their fluid requirements are the same.
