1) your physical size (5'8" 180)
2) How physical / aggressive are you ? (Aggressive)
3) what do you plan to ride- MX/SX tracks, woods, fields with friends or ????? (Allot of trail and some dunes)
4) Do you have any riding experience? (All street bikes 17 years. The last 7 have been on one of my Busas)
5) Do you think you will race ? (No)
6) Are you mechanically inclined and will you be doing your own bike work? ( I built my dragbike and I build the engines for them still.)
7) Do YOU have a preference to a brand/ motor choice (2 or 4 stroke)? (Not really but I'm leaning 2 stroke)
8) Do you have a dealer close by your home that you might use and what brand(s) does he carry?( Yes and All)
9) How much ($) do you plan to spend on a bike? (2000)
10) Do you live in California? (No)
11) Your age? (34)

I'm looking at a 2003 RM 250 and a 2002 YZ250f. They both are the same price. They are just about even as far as work done to them. The RM is in better looking shape by far.

Any help you can give I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

I personally would get the RM, I am a big fan of the Yamaha but there is nothing like opening up a 2stoke on the dunes. Plus in my opinion 2strokes are easier and for the most part cheaper to work on.

i would say go with the RM. yamaha's bikes are down sized. at least for the 50cc-125cc bikes so i would amagine the 250's are too. with you being 5'8 a RM may be a LITTLE tall but you can adjust that. so yeah man with the RM even looking better i would say suzuki all the way!

i have a '95 RM250 =D

at 5'8" he can ride anything without any problems. unless he really wanted to he would not need to do any lowering.

I would probably go for the RM. the YZ is a 4stroke and buying a used 4T can be risky. unless you are planning on doing a total overhaul on the bike and check everything on it, it would be much safer to buy the RM.

and can you explain what you mean by yamaha's are downsized?

okay compare a XR125 (four stroke) to a TTR 125 (four stroke)

XR seat height is 820 mm (32.3 inches) If adjustable, lowest setting.

TTR seat height is30.5" seat height

then compare a rt100 (yamaha 2 stroke) to a KX 100 (kawasaki 2 stroke)

RT seat height-28.7"

KX seat height- 34.3 in.

and a pw80 to a rm 80

pw seat height-25"

rm seat height- 880mm (33.5 in.)

thats what i mean, they are smaller.

Actually... The Yamaha's run bigger.

In the bigger bikes.

And the 2003 RM250 is shorter than the 2002 yz250f...
250f=39.3inch seat height RM250=38inch seat height

Last a PW80 is completely different than a RM80 (PW=PeeWee)

All the 125's (ttr, drz, klx) are 30.5 inch seatheight and the large tires are 31.7 inches.

As for the xr125L i never even knew they even made one so i don't know why it's taller but its a endure and an offroad bike.

ugg screw me, i had never heard of one before, but who was the bright person who thought all 80's were in the same class....and the kx 100 compared to the rt 100 is the most retarted comparison ever! thats like comparing a ke 100 with an rm 100. its 2 totally different bikes. the KE100 and the RT 100 are about the same,.... it thats what you meant?

rm250 guy, u compared a rt100 to a kx100 which is comparing a race bike to a slow detuned trail bike and your trying to say yamahas run smaller. None of your comparisons are even valuable, Honda never made a XR125 either i dont know what your talking about.
