COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- A cab driver who picked up a couple suspected in the slaying of a Tennessee prison guard during a courthouse escape said Thursday the two told him they were going to an Amway convention but their story just "didn't really seem to wash."

So the cabby drops them off, goes home and plays video games. A friend calls him to say he thinks he (cabby) carried the couple. Cabby calls the police. Sure enough, it was the wanted couple.

Cabby says he had no idea they were wanted, they were "normal", etc.
Now says their story didn't make sense, but didn't call police, etc.

So now CNN is calling this guy a "Hero". "Hero cabby" to be exact.

What the hell am I missing? Let me say this incase you don't know how I feel about big media; LOSERS. Thank you for polluting the pool of real hero's out there.

It's nice he provided a tip that led to the capture. I'm happy he performed his civic duty.

Hero? Nope.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

My observation is the media often bestows 'hero' status on anyone who rats out another person.

Not to make too much of it, but citizens giving big brother a hand is a theme that serves the media's socialistic agenda. Hence the glorification of the whistle blowers (the media also view themselves as society's professional whistle blowers).

Traditional definition heroes are often people of action -Independent, brave, creative thinking risk takers. This personality type is threatening to the socialist media. If the cabby had somehow apprehended the perps himself, most of the media would not be treating him as a hero. He would be held up as an example of what not to do - he took risks that endangered himself and others, etc...

Bottom line is the media want to encourage us to pick up the phone and call the authorities. Bestowing heroism on the act of whistle blowing allows them to subtlely get that point across.

These are the same people who think it was Peter Jennings, Tom Brokaw and Dan Rather who got us through nine-eleven.

Doesn't this describe Bubba? I don't see him giving lifts to cons, yet he takes his fair share of dissing on this site, and takes plenty of risks! ;)

I don't think he is a hero.

But, I'll bet the family of the downed corrections officer is damn thankful for his actions, however limited they were.

I don't think the media has a right to call someone a hero. A hero is a personal thing, someone who you look up to. Personally, my hero is the US Military. They risk their lives everyday, for us back home. I would hardly consider this guy a hero. Yes, he did aide in catching criminals, and that does make him a good citizen, but far short from a hero.

If he had recognized them immediately, disarmed them and then used their own weapons to save the taxpayers from having to support their useless, parasitic souls any longer, THEN I would consider him a hero.
