It came out just about the same time I did:confused: Although I don't think it was ever popular. My first memories of a real MX race was when I was about three or four (1971 or 72)and my parents took me to see a friend of theirs race down by Hutchinson, Ks. They were kind of hippies, music-wise and I remember that song in the pits that day, as well as Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road. You know, timeless classics. From that day on, all I ever wanted to do was ride.
I heard it again on Fox Greatest Hits and was reminded of watching that first race and being hooked. Heck, I even have a Rough Rider MX lunch box from when I was about four years old displayed in my garage.
It really is a great song as well as some great vintage footage.
Oh and to all of the law enforcement officers out there (who I have much admiration for), c'mon I was just a kid and Arlo was just tellin' a story-no disrespect was intended by him-I think anyway.:)
