Well I thought that I'd come over here and introduce myself as well. I'm Steff.....I live in Colorado. I am Kav's girlfriend. He is the one who got me interested in riding. I have limited mobility below the knee but I won't let that stop me from riding. Patrick and I have been looking at quads for me to ride. We have looked at a couple but still have more research to do....any advice we can get would be awesome. I can't wait to start riding.

Hi Steff,
I met your boyfriend once at Hollister while my husband was stationed at NPS aka Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, Ca. I believe it was the Chicks Ride, but I could be wrong since I was at Hollister Hills about 2 times per week. Now we are back in Southern California stationed at Camp Pendleton (yep, my honey is a Marine too!) Kav seemed very nice when I met him . It's really great that you are willing to give riding a chance. Watch out because it is highly addictive. Advice? Just have FUN! :ride:

Yea he is the best. I fell for him real quick when I met him. I had already known his family before I met him because his twin sister is one of my closest friends. He is really easy to get along with. The hardest thing right now is that since he is a marine and stationed in Cali and I am in Colorado I do not get to see him as much as I would like.....that is gonna change though because I plan on moving in with him in the near future. As far as having fun...that will be an easy task. I can't wait to start riding.

Welcome aboard Steff, any friend of Kav's is a friend of mine! As far as quads are you looking for more of a utility quad or something in the high performance line up?

Chili, We're looking for something more along the sporty side of things. I've taken Steff down to Chaparral's a few times just to look at the quads. We feel that the utility quads are going to be too big and heavy for the type of riding we would like to go do. So far the top three we are looking at are The Can-Am DS 250, The Polaris Trail Blazer 250, and the Polaris Phoenix 200. I had Steff sit on most every sport style quad there from the Raptor to the the Phoenix, and so far she has liked the Phoenix the most. Chaparral has not had the DS 250 on the floor when we have gone there. They can not seem to keep them in stock. On paper the DS 250 seems like the best one with disk brakes frount and rear, and a water-cooled engine. But time and a chance to get Steff on one will tell.

Hi Steff. How come you're going the lawnmower blade fell off route & not two wheels? Are you going to look at two wheels in the future? If you think you even might, have a think about putting a "normal" throttle on instead of the thumb throttle. That way going onto a bike will be one less thing to learn/unlearn.
Good on you for giving it a go.
Kav, I lost your email addy - are you still considering coming over? (if you are, I hope you bring Steff with you lol).
Oh, my friend who started on quads is finally over them (she's been hankering after one since being forced onto two wheels 5/6 years ago).
Good luck with finding the perfect toy.

Michelle.....there is a particular reason for the quad. Due to a birth defect I am in a wheelchair. I am paralyzed below the knee and have limited mobility above the knee so therefore a quad is the route I have to go.

Now don't I feel stink ;) Good on you for giving it a go. I've emailed Kav a few thoughts - don't say no straight away (in case anyone is wondering - I suggested a quad with reverse, as in some situations it'll give Steff a bit more independence, not having to rely on someone to help her go backwards & electric or pull start - last one is probably stating the obvious but quads are almost foreign to me).
Sincerely good on you giving it a go. hehehe, I keep thinking how the look on bike shop workers faces when you get out of the chair & try out a quad for size would be so priceless. That is honestly really cool & I'm sorry to hear about your disability but also have to say you'll be an inspiration too.
Can you do a write up on your first ride so we can share? Way to go Steff & hope I haven't totally screwed it up. I know this post isn't coming out right, but blame the fact that I'm tired & unable to think straight (my tenses/whateverthewordi'mlookingfor are all messed up). You go girl and hope we get to meet one day in the future :)

Michelle please do not feel bad at all. I took no offense to your comments. I just wanted to make sure I explained the reason I have to go the quad route. Despite being in a wheelchair I will attempt anything I can...I do not nor will I ever let my disability stop me from doing things I think will be fun. And this is something I can do with Patrick that he loves doing. And I am sure we will get to meet some day as Patrick and I will most likely be headed that direction in the hopefully not too distant future.
