Anyone know whether there have been any issues with the 2004/05 CR250/CR125 airboxes? There were obviously problems in 2002 and maybe 2003, but Honda has changed the design a bit since then, and the 2005s even have a slightly different filter and cage than the '04s. Anyone have a problem with dirt or dust leaking past the air filter or seals on an '04 or '05 CR? If so, what fix have you used. Thanks.

I have an 03' and there's no problems that I'm aware of...I clean my filter every ride and haven't noticed any dirt in the air boot or anything...Just put plenty of grease around the lip of the filter.

I have an 02 CR125 and if i oil up the lip of my UNI filter with PJ1 there's no problem what so ever. No dirt in the boot. I clean it after a very dusty ride.

The CR airbox has gotten a bad rap as regards the sealing issues, but I've not personally had any problems with my '03. It seems like they improved the design with each successive year, with MY2002 being the worst.

These guys sell an aluminum ring that enables tighter clamping of the boot to the airbox. I have not used it personally, but it seems like a good solution if you are experiencing the problem:

I have a 04 and I wasn't happy with the way the filter was sealing up against the air box. I checked out both Proseal and MXBonz and the MXBonz has the better solution in my opinion.
