I have a 1997 CR250 and I want to upgrade the shock to a newer one. The 97 subframe is the one the goes straight to the frame rather than the the (98-99) one that goes down and angles up causing clearance issues for the shock.

So here is my question...what newer year shocks will cross over? Could I get a newer CRF250 - 450 shock, if so then which years? Same thing with the CR250?

Basically will a gen3 CR250 or CRF shock work. How bout a gen4 CRF?
Will I have to change the bearings to fit the frame mount and linkage mount or are they the same diameter...ETC.
TIA

Things to worry about are the shocks overall length , and the clocking of the nitrogen resevoir . Plus the linkage ratio's will dictate different valving .
