The Mamba :) (a tricked-out KX250) you had a 1 in 200 chance to win it, one of the FEW to buy 1 ticket DID win it! The proceeds went to a great cause. It was so cool to see all the members jump on board, even Pastrana steped-up big. Good memories, thanks Jeff. Come to think of it, Pastrana has done a couple good things for DRN. I don't care what ya say, he's a good one.

you mean youve seen them both at the same time- i always though they were two of the same, kinda like a Jeckyl and Hyde! :)

I really hope i can get to DW this year, and now Eric has the new shop up and running, i really hope both he and Rich can make it as well- i really do owe them both a couple of big beers!

Bruce,
I can't tell you how honored I was to be mentioned in Eric's book and the web addy of DRN...

which is a segway to;

There is nothing like spending time in the pits with Eric and Rich, you'll forget to ride when you hear the stories of the Industry and their history in the business. Awesome stuff!

Yup, they are in fact two different people. I'd testify to it! They are both perfect examples of the rebels of the industry... example; look at what Eric charges for his work. Pisses the big shops-off to no end. It's better, customized for the rider rather than just some socal pro porting formula, hacked-out by a kid on summer vacation. "Here, Nick Wey Runs it, so it's good". Eric lost his "position" in the mags, hell, black-listed, for telling it like it is. If it's crap, Eric (and Rich) has/have no hesitation telling you so. Screw the heat from the advertisers. If they make a good product, they have nothing to worry about.

And we all know Mr "Double R ... you'll always get the straight scoop, I guess some of us just aren't big enough in the pants to take the answer we might get :p Fortunately, we rode together every weekend at a private track; I made my stupid statements offline where no one could see me get the "Double R Brain Punch".

We're going to extreme measures to make sure they both make it to DW '04 ... We already got Rich to fall for Diane (dirty ~d~) who is actually an agent for the mod squad. She's got the pressure on Rich to go, so we're covered there. All we have to do now is hope Eric isn't up to his eyeballs in cylinders... and when he's there; not spending all his time on the motors Billy blows-up.

LOL- engines are not the only things Billy has been blowing up recently.

as for Dirtweek, maybe we should hatch a plan just in case Eric and Rich say they cant make it- ive got some chloroform, we can just knock them out and bundle them into the back of a van :p

I met Trigger while riding at Paragon, and he told me about DRN. He was also the first person to show me how to turn a dirtbike into a submarine.

We were new to dirtbiking, I'd bought Eric's first edition of his book & went to check out his website. He had a link to this place, but to be honest, it wasn't a happening thing. RMD was much busier so I would read that & occasionally pop in to see how things were faring. Eventually a thread caught my eye & the rest is history. I found a print out of the thread the other week, I just wish I'd saved the actual thread.

From that the women's forum was born as Okie had the forsight to think it was a good idea. Heck, we had myself, Bbbom & LoriKDX (now LoriKTM) as the female members who would actually post. Though other forums are now starting to put up women's forums, for me they just don't work. I guess I've pulled up a chair, got myself real comfortable (with the odd niggle), found the fridge & called it home.

As for Rich, if anyone thinks he's tough, I'm sorry but his posts aren't what they used to be - he doesn't seem to offend nearly enough people these days I, too, often wondered if him & Eric were the same person, but nah, unless whichever one is "real" is a schizophrenic, they're definitely different folk.

I've made some good friends, had a lot of laughs, learnt a lot, had somewhere to turn to when I didn't have anyone in real life who could help with things, got a heap of good advice, and still enjoy this place for the most part.

Oh, Okie, with the two letter searches, could you also add TM (if poss). Cheers

My wife bought #2 son a very used dirtbike for his birthday. I dropped way too much into it, having the dealership sleeve it. Then to have it fail ten minutes after the rebuild. Aaron #2 son (Team-green32) Turn me on to this great message board. I singed up right away for the lifetime thing. Read Rich's and Mr. Gorr's post's. Called Eric up on a land line, he talked sense so I shipped him the kx80 cylinder. He straighten out the dealerships hack job. Then I went to Mr. Gorr’s first Tech seminar in Elkhart. Right from the start I like what I seen with the format of the board. It most always worked well. The moderators seem to keep a pretty tight lid on the trash talking; there was plenty of good info. I was hooked. The rest is History. :worship:

Last March the bike bug bit me. I was looking for a good woods bike, I started reading about the KDX200 at RMD. I found one at "That auction site" for a good price. I wanted to read up on and collect as much info on the KDX as I could so I started doing "Google" searches on KDX200 and Canadian Daves site popped up.

It took me awhile before I even noticed there was a "DRN" I thought CD's site was it! (I'm still exploring different forums)

I've learned a lot since I found this place!
Shoot, I would not have even of met Canyncarvr, if it wasn't for this site!

Well, if I remember correctly, one morning I was surfin' the net and dropped a cup of coffee on my keyboard.

While I was cleaning up the coffee, I musta pressed the right keys and this DRN site popped up. I read some of the post and noticed right away that there were no little kids cussin at each other and no posts about what is the top speed of my Yamazuki 80.

There was this Rich guy that kept a pretty tight lid on the internetcrap and this Eric guy that seemed to know his stuff and several others that kept the site in line. And this Bob fella kept everyone honest.

So, I decided to stick around. That was four years ago and they havn't been able to get rid of me yet.

Or, maybe it was a search engine???  :yeehaw:

A friend told me about it.
:clue:
Back at the beginning of time, there once was a motocross chatroom on AOL that was actually a motocross chat. Before the teen/freestyle invasion of the late 90's. At this pre-DRN location I met AJ & Wardy and all was cool.
One Saturday or Sunday morning while chatting with AJ (he wasn't racing because his son was not feeling well/sitter deal?)he instructed me to check out dirtrider.net (they didn't use 'lil abbreviations back then). He said this cool computer type dude was putting up a website to host dirtbike stuff. AJ was moving his AOL hosted site for AMA District 17 to dirtrider.net. He had me keep checking stuff as he uploaded or whatever he did. I decided to check out the forums to kill time. I've kind of been here ever since. I think there was only a couple hundred members and a couple of forums. We're talking sooo long ago there was even an ATV forum.

Bbbom referred me!! I met her about the time she met Karl--he was friends with a guy I used to work with, who invited me out to a group ride. Karl was there with his little girl who instantly grabbed my leg and wanted me to take her for a trip to the bathrooms--I was the only other female around. Then Lori showed up and we chased each other around for a while (when she was still on the KLX, with little Randi sitting in front of her). Then I got invited for the first of many wonderful (punishing, brutal, torturous) rides up at her place. Then she sent me the link to this place.

Hey Michelle, what's a "niggle?" Is it a noun or a verb? It sounds fun.

A noun or a verb? Hmmm, never did do well at English, couldn't figure them things out. They were foreign. Got me totally lost for learning other languages.

A niggle. It's something niggly. Moderately annoying, something you can't shake, like a minor headache that you only notice when you turn your head one way or another, or do something is a niggly headache. Minor annoyances.

After buying our first square headed girlfriend as my wife calls it. I did a search for dirtbikes. DRN was one of the websites that came up on the first page. I looked at the forums, but being a newbie internet user I didn't join. I came back a few months later after looking at all the crap that was out there and joined. Like many I had been bikeless for a few years and had purchased a bike a few months before finding DRN. My first post I think, was about my ride at a track that I raced at in the 80's. That was Sept 2000 and if my memory is correct there were just over 5k members.

Via Search engine "Excite" in 1999. Now I find it in my bookmarks at work and my home page at home. LOL

dito - except it was in 2000.

I had been out of dirt biking for many years - bought my KDX and Wendys' ttr in early 2000 and was looking for information on bikes as well as places to ride. I found DRN and saw that some type of event called the "MidWest Spode Fest" (MWSF2K) was coming up. So i joined and we packed up the truck and trailer and headed off to Casey, IL.

A friend told me about it about a year before I actually joined. I came in once in awhile, but never really looked around. After the first time I really dug into the site, I joined up.

One of the "old" members came in there spamming the site. I checked it out, and never looked back

Wasting away . . .

I remember it well. I was bored and wasting away here in the Kornfeeld, nobody to ride with, nothing to do. So, I did a search and came up with several places to go check out. I hit ORC, Thumpertalk, Dirtn something, XDB, and a few others.

DRN was by far the best, and now look what I got myself into!!! :p A whole slew of the best friends a guy could ever ask for! And then some.
