first off i am under the impression a hare scramble is a shorter version of a gncc or enduro possibly a couple laps of a one hour course or 4 on 30 min, etc...., if this is true i would like to participate in some this year. i imagine there are hs that are better than others, i was wondering how i could find a schedule and descriptions of some events closest to se mich.

i wouldn't mind getting into a series but most likely couldn't make all events necessary to be competitive. therefore i would like to pick a couple of the more interesting events to try my hand at this.

Have a look here. http://www.ama-d14.org/divisions.php?view=harescrambles
This should get you some info on hare scrambles in your area.

You are mostly correct with your understanding about hare scramble racing. HS is very very much like GNCC. In fact I think that GNCC racing is sort of a professional product of what HS riders become. Most of the races are about three hours and the courses are 5 to 40 miles in length.

Enduros are an entirely different race from HS and GNCC. Time keeping and scoring gets involved with that.

well i am a member of the battle creek moto club, and we put on 2 HS's a year most of the time im still getting back into the competition of things and last year was my first time being around a HS. from what i know about our they are AMA D14 events. they have 2 main class's one being a 2 hour, and another being a 3hour. our combines a woods section i think it was around 6 miles last year, a section of our vintage track(not much of anything you can call a jump on it and decently wide) and part of our motocross track about 1.5 to 2 miles. i havent raced it yet i was a course marshell this past year on my bike and i rode from the time the first event started to sweep on the very last class, so i was pretty pooped that day. ill try to find out when our first one is for ya. i know its pretty soon and this month. good luck i know our course is a riot to ride. :)

well the only open riding is for club members we put on the races to pay for the track bills and what not. thats so we have aa place we can ride for free. down in this part of the state there are no open riding area's left. the only thing thats left is pay tracks to ride. we have to work 45 hours at the track every year in order to keep our membership, so we do have to do something to beable to ride there. ill have to check and see but i think you are right about the 15th being a race weekend. ill post a link to thier web sigth here today or tomorrow, right now the wife is yelling at me to do honey do's so i have to split.

hhills.net here is a link the web site is realy new and still under construction.

our race schedual for the year is
for motocross
april 2 yep last weekend
july 16th sat and july 17 sunday
oct 1st otc 2nd

for hare scambles
sunday may 15th
sunday sept 25th

some of us are trying to get a few open rides going so that non club memebers can come and try the track out.
we have 3 tracks
1 full moto
1 vintage
1 mini track.
the hairscrambles track runs on our land and a neighbors land who lets us use it during race weekends only inreturn they get to ride the track when ever they want, and we give them a 100 dollar lowes card each year.

now im a new member so i still have a month or 2 left on my probationary period after that i get a key to the gate, and then i can ride when ever i want, and i can also bring in non members to ride with me here and there, so i can probably get you in a few times this year to try it out. well have fun with the scrambles i know i liked the course that we have every time ive been on it.
